About Steven Newell

For more than 15 years, Steven Newell has acted as a driving force in the field of greenhouse-based agricultural production. Together with his brother John, Steven Newell founded Windset Farms in 1996, and has served as President and CEO of the company ever since. In that time, Windset Farms has grown to become the largest grower of greenhouse vegetables in the western United States and Canada.

Under Steven Newell’s leadership, Windset Farms has grown from a $1 million business in 1997 to one with hundreds of millions in sales today. Newell has directed all facets of greenhouse and corporate management, including securing financing, designing and managing multiple facilities, directing expansion projects and new construction, overseeing government and international relations, and strategic planning.

From its original greenhouses in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Steven Newell has supervised the opening and expansion of Windset Farms greenhouses in Delta, British Columbia; Las Vegas, Nevada; and most recently in Santa Maria, California. Windset Farms grows primarily tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, together with a range of specialty produce, and sells its vegetables throughout the United States. Canada and Japan. Some of their major customers include Costco, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Trader Joe’s, and Sysco, among many others.

Steven Newell attended St. George’s School in Vancouver and has maintained his ties with the school. He recently served on a panel of judges called The Dragon’s Lair. where a group of students from St. George’s pitched their business plans for various products and services to win support for their idea or concept . Newell has also attended Queen’s University School of Business and completed the Quantum Shift Entrepreneurship Program offered by the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business.
